Flowing to the Beats for a Good Cause...

I had an early start yesterday... It was this day that really confirmed to me just how inspired I was feeling...

Kinndli was holding a free yoga class at the Sherway Gardens Lululemon store in the morning. This time though, it was different. It was held in the mall, right in centre court. Our audience was the passing shopkeepers and staff, and the regular morning mall walkers. The event was dubbed the "DJ Power Yoga Party". The main focus of the event was to bring awareness to a charitable cause - the Africa Yoga Project. Their mission is "To empower youth, build a global community and increase well-being in East Africa." This year for the first time Kinndli- along with her colleagues and teacher, Baron Baptiste - will be going to Kenya to instruct the teacher training course for 60 Kenyans. They will be paying their own way there and raising funds from their home communities so that 100% of the funds will go directly to the project. Kinndli has worked tirelessly here at Kula and Leewi Yoga Studios with her fundraising by selling Africa Yoga Project t-Shirts, and hosting special events. The donations received have been phenomenal.

As we were flowing to the sweet beats that Kinndli provided, I was feeling the positive energy. I was in a place where I felt like I belonged. I was flowing and I was free from the sound of the first Om, through the Sun Salutations, the vinyasas between each posture, right down to Savasana, the final Om, and finally... Namaste...

After the session, we all gathered at the Lululemon store where we had a light snack and went crazy trying on clothes. I managed to score myself a sweet skirt. This skirt can be worn as just a skirt, or a strapless dress. It is actually very comfortable to wear and I cannot wait to strut around in it.

After hanging around for a bit, I went to IKEA to grab a few odds and ends before heading off to the gym. After struggling to get out of the car due to a sag in motivation, I managed to get out of the car and did a really good session at the gym. My gym routine consisted of a 50 minute session on the treadmill where I covered 3.83 miles by walking hills as well as lower body weights.

All in all, by the time the weekend was done, I was feeling light... feeling free... I am still remembering the great time I had hiking on the Bruce Trail on Saturday. In fact, that hike really provided the kickstart I needed for a wonderful weekend.
