Crossfit Sunday

Usually, my Sundays are spent doing Ashtanga Yoga. However, my mat was hung to dry on this day because I had put it in the bathtub to wash it, in hopes of restoring some of the grip I was starting to lose on the bottom of it. The loss of grip was becoming so bad, I had to start layering a thinner mat under it so that it wouldn't move when I was moving between postures. This could be potentially dangerous if it is not addressed.

With that being said, I decided that I would tackle the gym once again. Now, I know I overdid it the day before and had a massive headache to show for it later on that night. However, as Sunday went on, I started feeling better, especially since I slept a little longer, was drinking lots of fluids and eating at regular intervals.

After taking care of a few things and getting my gear together, I headed out. I had to run an errand before making it to the gym. After getting the errand out of the way, I headed to the gym and quickly changed for the workout.

I warmed up for 25 minutes on the elliptical, covering what was judged by the machine to be 2.66 miles. I then went to work on the Crossfit WOD, taken from Element Crossfit.

10 Russian One-Arm Kettlebell Swings 1p/.75p (alternating)
20 Backwards Lunges 1p/.75p (stationary alternating)
10 American Kettlebell Swings 1p/.75p
(10 Rounds)
I learned that one pood is a Russian unit of weight that is equivalent to 36.11lbs. The kettlebell workouts were the faux type, using dumbells. For the one-arm swings, I used 15lbs. For the American swings (two handed), I used 27.5lbs. The ten rounds were getting really boring after awhile, which made staying the course all the more challenging. I was sweating quite a bit as I made the effort to keep track of where I was at.

After completing the WOD, I cooled down with a walk around the track, followed by some stretching before changing and leaving the gym.

Today, I have been feeling it on the back and shoulders. Between Saturday and Sunday, the two workouts have really worked that part of the core. As a result, tonight was designated as a rest night which also gives me an opportunity to blog to my heart's content... :-)
