Crossfit Monday

As soon as I got home this evening, I knew I wanted to get a workout in. There are so many little events coming up this week that I have a feeling that I will be winging it where evenings are concerned.

I had originally planned to swim but time did not permit me to do so. In fact, I decided to defer the swim until Wednesday evening. Tonight, I settled on the following Crossfit routine:

Four rounds for time of:
Walking lunge 50 meters
Sit-ups, 50 reps

I started with a kilometre of jogging to warm up. The whole thing took me around half an hour to do. Where the walking lunges were concerned, I decided to call close to three-quarters of a lap 50 metres because of the odd measurement of the indoor track at the YMCA I went to - 8 laps equals a kilometre and 12.5 laps equals a mile. With the sit-ups, I have a feeling that I will really feel it tomorrow due to the fact that I had already completed a total of 150 sit-ups yesterday.

After the workout was complete, I decided to test my wrist by doing the revised kettlebell (swings with dumbells as the Y does not have kettlebells). I did not wear the splint today and it did alright. At the gym, I used the wrist strap. This will become standard practise from now on for both wrists during workouts and trail runs for shock absorption - especially during falls. If I do not use the strap, I will be using athletic tape.

I am happy to report that my wrist survived that part of the workout. Pulling is ok now. One thing to note though, for kettleball swings the wrist remains neutral at all times. I will try something else that requires some flexing action to ensure that all is well. Next goal - to be able to apply downward pressure without feeling any twinges. While I can apply some downward pressure, there is some tightness there that has to be worked out when fully healed.

  1. Is it a wrist strap like guys use on the bench press? I am trying to imagine it.
