In the midst of the chaos that we face at work once again this week, I finally did something that I have been dying to do all week - I sprung out of work at a decent hour! It was not directly at 16h00, but it would do. After the usual train commute, I made it home in time to grab my clothes, gear, and water bottle along with a recovery drink before heading out the door again. Although I had some physical discomfort, my body was craving a good workout.
I made it to the gym and greeted Lorene who was busy training clients. She had a really busy night and did not really have time to chat. It was all good because I was on a mission. I did not get outside to run because the wet snow that was falling made the roads and sidewalks a little treacherous for footing. The first thing I did was secure a treadmill. Once I got on the treadmill and got started, I was in a zone for the next two hours...
After running for 45 minutes, covering around 4.5 miles, I hit the weights and focused on upper body and core strength. I also did some light leg work such as squats and abductor/adductor work. The workout concluded with a long stretch, followed by a few minutes in the steam room prior to heading home. When I arrived, I ended up shovelling some of the wet snow off the driveway because it was pretty slick. I also had to put some salt down so that the driveway wouldn't freeze over.
I will probably feel it in the morning but I am so happy I got out for my workout...
