My Nutrition Plan

After being read the riot act by Lorene on the importance of refueling after long efforts for faster recovery, I realised that I was starting to neglect that aspect of my training. The results were not favourable. I have been constantly tired, irritable, unfocused, and unable to concentrate at work. To top it all off, I realised that eventually, my motivation will end up dying off if I am not careful.

After my run on Saturday, I went over to the health food store and bought packets of plant-based protein powders - the ones I know, and the ones that I have been curious to try. I also inventoried all that I have in the house already.

The plan now is to sample each brand during efforts that last more than two hours to see how my body reacts to it. Now one of the protein supplements I have is whey-based, which I'm trying to stay away from. I am also not going to be using soy-based protein supplements. I will include the whey protein in the mix as well since I already have that one in the house. This plan will also let me know exactly what works, and help me to strategise how I fuel myself in the upcoming ultrarunning season.

Along with my workouts, I will be reporting which supplement I have used, along with the effects.

  1. bravo...very thorough. Soy products - mainly Luna bars for sure, make me extremely toxic - exhaust wise, if you know what I mean...
