Mixing It Up...

For the last couple of days, I have been looking carefully at some of the CrossFit routines that have been posted online. Reading Catra's blog and reading information from the ULTRA List has peaked my interest in this type of workout. CrossFit routines are "broad, general, and inclusive" with no specific specialty or level of experience required. All routines are scalable and adjustable to the individual.

Yesterday, I ventured over to the gym after work to workout before I attended the RONA MS Bike Tours committee meeting. I had less than an hour to kill before hitting the showers and getting ready to leave. Taken from Monday's workout, I did the following CrossFit Workout of the Day:

  • 500m row, 21 press ups (used the incline press set at 50lbs - wanted to keep it light to avoid injury as I start to get more familiar with CrossFit)
  • 500m row, 18 press ups
  • 500m row, 15 press ups
  • 500m row, 12 press ups

After doing the workout, I worked on some core and lower body before departing for my meeting.

Today, I didn't do anything to specific. I continue to feel tired. My brother came down with something and I'm trying my hardest not to catch it. I went over to the gym. The original plan was to run outside for up to two hours. I immediately changed my mind upon my arrival because the rain/snow mix was starting up and I was not feeling up to being out there. In fact, Lorene warned me about pushing too hard when the body just needs to rest. Instead, I laced up my crosstrainers and prepped for a circuit. The circuit consisted of the following:

1km walk around the track followed by specific exercises for the core. In between each exercise set, I would walk one kilometre. By the end of the night, I had walked five kilometres and felt great.

Now... rest time... I'm hoping to get some yoga in tomorrow, depending on how I feel during the day...
