Well, this year is all of 23 days old and I have been thinking about the things I want to accomplish this year. All of my goals require some work but I do need to set it in stone so that I can look back at them and effectively plan a course of action for each goal. I will list just a few key goals for now and see how it goes.
Run 100 Miles
I plan to accomplish this on the weekend of May 23rd at the Sulphur Springs Trail Races. This will be my first 100M run. Right now, I am actively in training. I am trying to be more balanced with my training in order to keep my motivation up and avoid injury. I have about half a dozen friends who are all in the same boat and we are all leaning on each other.
Further My Yoga Practise
Towards the fall, when much of the racing season dies down, I would like to further my practise by taking a Teacher Training course. I have always expressed an interest in teaching and I can see myself leading a class in something that I absolutely like doing. So far, there are three styles of Yoga that resonate with me - Baptiste Power Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and Moksha. Even if I do not teach, I can still have the satisfaction of knowing that my practise will be so much stronger. In addition to this, I would like to build a home practise so that I know that I can practise at anytime.
P90X
My brother and I are looking to purchase the set for this kick-ass fitness programme. Once that comes along, I would like to start this programme in the fall - again when much of the racing is done.
Reach Out to Old and New Friends
With my life as an Ulrarunner, I have made lots of new friends who I have been really close with. The problem is that much of my other friends (I used the term "common friends" with Lorene once) have slipped away, or are quietly slipping away. I would like to start reaching out to some of those friends. It will not be easy though. If they do not express any interest in rekindling the friendship, I will let them go and wish them well. In this world, we are constantly evolving in our lives. We find new interests, make new friends, and live. Friends are part of the equation. Often times, our new interests are not compatible with that of our friends. Compromises have to be made. We do have to make an effort to keep the positive energy alive but at the same time, we must remain at cause and learn to let go where necessary.
Keep My Spiritual Practise Alive
Simple stuff such as meditating and spending time in prayer will help me with this. I will not go into too much detail because everybody has a different opinion on this point. All I will say is that I would like to bring spiritual harmony to my life. A spiritual practise is one of the components to living a balanced life.
So there we have it, some of my goals for 2009. Like I said, there is more but I will be keeping a separate tab on this. They are too numerous to list here. For those of you who have goals and dreams, keep your head up and keep it all positive. Visualising goals and dreams, as well as planning, will help in achieving.
God Bless and Namaste...
