Pool Running Mondays

I was at the pool last night for my weekly pool running session with Lorene. We started doing this every Monday since the New Year at the Y. We would meet in the evening and go for an hour.

Now, for those of you who are wondering what I am talking about, I'll take the liberty to explain. Pool running is a zero-impact workout that is done in the deep end of a swimming pool. A floatation belt is used to assist with bouyancy while you mimic running. You will go forward a bit with the movement. Pool running is ideal for runners and other athletes who are recovering from injury, as well as those who cannot (or choose not to) run outside or on the treadmill for any reason. There are many great resources that can be found online to get you started if any of you readers are interested in trying this out.

Lorene and I really enjoy the time spent in the water. For the entire hour, we chat about anything that comes to our minds. It may be about training tips for running or triathlons, overall health and nutrition, our jobs, or even our outside social life. We have been trying to get more people to come out but so far we have not had any takers yet. They will come though, especially if they want to hear some great stories from Lorene :) I have also found that since we started water running, I have been running better on the land. I have a renewed sense of strength and I feel more efficient on land.
