Wow... If a quote can come out and hit me at a precise moment, this one is it! I've been talking to myself a lot lately. Unfortunately, the conversations have not always been positive. They have been very critical, self-judgmental, and ugly.
Has it really been serving me? Not at all. In fact, it has been doing the opposite - it has been draining me and making my life an overall struggle.
When I look at this quote, I find myself remembering the podcast that Susanne Conrad posted with regards to "Clearing, Grounding, and Holding Space" (the actual title is "Principle 1: Clear, Ground & Hold Space"). She reminds us that when negativity is emitted, it poisons the immediate environment. A vivid example that is given in the podcast is the consequences of a worker who is exposed to asbestos and then brings it home. The results of this is the risk of asbestosis, and other asbestos-related illnesses, not only for the worker, but for the entire family as well.
So, while having a conversation with yourself, think about the impact of the conversation and be mindful of what happens when you hold back, remain ungrounded, and hold very little space for yourself. I find that it is more beneficial to come to a clearing, get grounded and hold space with mindfulness and compassion.
Challenge to self - I need to clear out the clutter that is affecting my. I need to remain grounded and take a stand for what suits me, and I need to learn and practise holding more space for myself.
