Tuesday was a fabulous day at the gym. After leaving the office and visiting with my therapist for my weekly treatments to loosen the ITBs, I headed straight to the gym. There was no plan to run as I was still feeling tired, and the weather was not the greatest. Besides, I wanted to get some weights in.
After changing and heading upstairs, I met up with Lorene who was training two little girls who are part of her Kids Triathlon Club. As soon as she saw me, she immediately called out to me. When I approached, she introduced me to her two young charges who were also accompanied by their mother. She then told the girls and their mother about me running 100 miles. In order for them to grasp the concept, we compared driving distances and came to the agreement that Niagara Falls would definitely fall within the distance.
I was then given the chance to workout with the girls - Emily and Hope. Seeing their faces beaming with enthusiasm, I could not refuse. We started off with stairs. We did 4 sets of stairs. It was fun to watch the girls and follow behind them as they were bounding up the stairs. They practically dived to the ground when they got to the top. Even Lorene was having a laugh at this. We then headed for the stability balls where we all had to kneel on the balls for balance. I demonstrated, and they totally attempted this with so much effort and enthusiasm. I had so much fun with the girls before doing my own workout that I will definitely be making a grand effort to make it to Lorene's coaching session with the kids to help out.
After Emily and Hope left with their mother, Lorene and I chatted for a bit before she did her rounds on the floor and I did my workout. My workout consisted of 25 minutes on the eliptical, covering 2.55 miles. It was then followed by upper body and core work. I finished my workout just as Lorene's shift was coming to an end. Again we chatted for a bit before she went home and I prepared to do the same.
