Sunday in Caledon Hills...

On Sunday afternoon, I packed up my gear and headed for Caledon Hills for a three hour trail run. I decided to revisit the Caledon Mountain-Forks of the Credit stretch.

The weather was quite pleasant, it was neither too warm, nor too cool. After 30 minutes, I took off my nylon vest and was quite comfortable in my black long-sleeved shirt and capris. There were many hikers and families out that afternoon. In fact, I managed to pass many of the same people twice - on the way out and on the way back.

I managed to have a dog encounter on the way out. Just before getting to my turnaround point at the end of a roadway, I was whooping my way down a hill when all of a sudden I heard barking. Two dogs charged out of the property adjacent to the road and started coming after me. I yelled at them, stood my ground and waited for them to turn around and head back home before proceeding to the end of the road section.

Once I got to the road section, I turned around and headed in the direction I came from, making sure to pass by the house with the two dogs slowly and silently. Once I got back on the trail, I went straight down one of the side trails. Once I got into the park at the bottom of the hill, I made my way through the park and took another side trail back to the top of the escarpment before passing back along the river-side trail. The trilliums at the Forks of the Credit Provincial Park were quite stunning. There were red and white trilliums.

On the way back, I once again had to traverse through a flooded section on the trail before reaching my car. The depth of the water ranged from ankle deep, to calf deep with lots of shoe-sucking mud underneath.

After I got back to the car, I drove out to the local gas station to fill up before heading home.
