I can hardly believe how fast this recovery process is going. I firmly believe that it is because I have become a lot stronger than I was a couple years ago. I have matured quite a bit since then and I have learned to be more in tune with my body, giving it what it needs while gently pushing it beyond its present limits. My mental state has also improved. I look back to the tough times I have had during the race. I have come to the realisation that when I visualise and affirm the positive, the desired results are achieved. Yes, I am a believer in the Laws of Attraction. Watching "The Secret" can have an impact when you view it with an open mind. To me, the mind and the body work as a team. If you want to transcend - to take yourself somewhere new - you have to use your mind to train your physical self to surpass the limits.
Last night, I was in the pool with Lorene where we did our hour long pool run. Beforehand, I was feeling a little tight. Before heading to the pool, I managed to run one mile around the track before doing some light abdominal work. I only did one mile because I was wearing my crosstrainers and I did not want to do too much without my running shoes. I also managed to catch up with Zeljko and Saddhu and shoot the breeze with them for a bit.
Overall, my body is feeling good. I am now ready to slowly pick up on my training once again. Tonight, weather permitting, I may do a brisk 10K run followed by some light weights. I'll be revisiting the tougher Crossfit WODs once I am feeling stronger.
Stay tuned... I am now drafting my Seaton Trail 78K race report...
