Temperatures have reached 8C today. With the warm temps, I had the drive to get out for a run this evening.
As soon as 16h00 came, I was out of the office. I made it on the first train of the evening and came straight home. I then gathered all my gear and headed for the gym after checking some e-mails. When I got to the gym, I immediately put all my stuff in the locker, laced up my shoes, and checked in with Lorene. Lorene gave me an hour and a half to complete my run.
I was in great shape when I started off. I didn't have on too many layers because of the warm temps but I was still sweating in my fleece-lined vest and lightweight winter hat. The only other thing that threatened to hold me back was my stomach. Throughout the day, I've experienced some mild cramping. During the run, I ended up making a pit stop part way into it.
Upon returning to the gym, Lorene informed me that she was not swimming tonight as she was meeting with a friend once her shift ended. After she left, I did some light core work and some stretching and yoga postures. I ended it all off with a headstand against the wall before heading to the changeroom to gather my stuff before coming home.
Oh! Before I forget... I have tried one of the recovery supplements this evening. The flavour of the day is from Nutiva. It is their chocolate HempShake. I had it with chocolate almond milk. The taste was quite appealing and the shake was pretty thick. I can picture putting some of this in my hot chocolate. It did have some of the nutty texture that comes with hemp but it is loaded with protein all the same. Upon drinking it, I also noticed that my cramps settled down significantly. When I viewed the nutritional information, I noticed that it had 20% magnesium which could be slowing down the cramping. My muscles also did not cramp up. I even had quite a bit of energy as well. So far I have a good vibe about this product. The second packet for this brand will be tested as an in-between choice during long runs.
