Wednesday night found me at the gym. The snow had significantly tapered off by the time I got home so I decided to honour my appointment with my running shoes and get out there.
After suiting up in the change room, I checked in with Lorene to see what she would be up to afterwards. Swimming was the plan. She then told me to be careful out there and gave me a 21h00 deadline to be back. If I was late she was going to be phoning me and coming to look for me if necessary.
The 7k route chosen was in decent shape. The plows were out at the time. Some of the sidewalks were tricky for footing so I stuck to the roads as much as possible. The only annoyance I had to deal with was the annoying person with the snow blower who decided to keep the thing running at full power - even though people were walking by - blowing the snow in such a way that the wind carried it far enough. Even though I crossed the street, I was still pelted with the airborne snow that was blown towards to me. I made it back to the gym directly at 21h00, feeling really good from that run.
In the pool, Lorene and I worked on some sculling drills for about 400m. My warm up was 300m and my post drill swim was 150m.
All in all, the workout was all good. I shall continue to marvel in my small gains while striving to transcend.
